Bacteria can grow at any temperature, but it multiplies rapidly in the Danger Zone, hence the name. If your string cheese sits out for longer than the 2-hour recommended window, throw it away.

Foodborne illnesses can lead to serious health issues. It’s always best to lean toward the safety side. Sometimes string cheese comes in individual wrappers.
