Amazing Mcdonald’s Holiday Pie (Copycat)

I am so excited to share this recipe with you guys. The closest Mcdonald’s to me has stopped serving the holiday pie altogether. When I found this out my heart was broke!

I love the holiday pie so much that I sat out on a mission to find my own version and I swear I love my way even more than the Mcdonald’s version. My family has said it taste identical and I guess you will just have to make this one to let me know yourself!

What Ingredients Would You Need?

  • 4 9-inch uncooked pie crusts
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (3.4 ounce) instant vanilla pudding
  • 1/4 cup yellow or white cake mix (dry mix)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

(OPTIONAL) EGG WASH:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

(OPTIONAL) GLAZE:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • Christmas sprinkles

How do we do it?

You will start with getting out a pie crust, whether you make your own or use a store bought one, I don’t judge! Set your cust aside and now we will start on the amazing inside of this one-of-a-kind pie!

In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding, cake mix, milk and vanilla extract until smooth, and set it aside also. Now, in a larger mixing bowl use an electric mixer to beat the cream cheese until it is light and fluffy then add the previous mixture we just did in with the cream cheese and continue to mix until it is fully blended.

Now we are ready to get the crust back out. The first thing you want to do is roll out the pie crust a few times to get it nice and thin. Next, cut the crust using a pizza cutter into your desire sized rectangle pieces.

Take half of the rectangle pieces and set them aside. Lay out the remaining crust and begin to fill each one with your filling making sure not to go all the way to the edges.

Lastly, you will take a fork and press along each side and pop them into the oven!

The final optional step is to beat 3 eggs together to make a wash to spread over the top and sides of each pie to get them the perfect golden brown!

After they are golden brown, take them out of the oven and you can either end there and serve or make a glaze and top with christmas sprinkles!

The Quick Step-By-Step

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. If using an oven, preheat the oven to 400°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding, cake mix, milk and vanilla until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add the pudding mix to the cream cheese and blend together until well combined.
  4. Gently unroll each pie crust and cut off the rounded edges making one large square. Cut each square in half to create a large rectangle. Spoon the filling into the center of each square and fold the dough over. Seal the edges by pressing a fork along each side.
  5. Beat egg and water in a small bowl. Brush over the tops of each pie. This will ensure your pies turn out golden brown!
  6. OVEN: Transfer pies to prepared baking sheet. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  7. AIR FRYER: Spray your air fryer with cooking spray and place in 2 pies at a time. Air fry at 350°F for 10 minutes. Repeat with remaining pies.
  8. In a small bowl mix together the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk. You want a very thick glaze but may need to add another tablespoon of milk to get it to a drizzle-able consistency.
  9. Drizzle each pie with glaze and sprinkle with sprinkles. Serve!
